We asked veteran travel nurse, Zabrina Rosado, about her time at Saint Joseph’s and she gave us the low down on stock town!
St. Joseph’s is a super traveler-friendly location with cutting-edge tech. Most of the travelers Zabrina met either extended their contracts for “the whole damn year” or became staff nurses. Zabrina herself loved it so much she stayed there for 26 years and even met a lifelong friend who ended up in her wedding!
A teaching facility with a residency program, St Jo’s receives 80% of the ambulance traffic from the surrounding area and is the largest hospital in San Joaquin County. A certified stroke and STEMI center, this hospital is consistently chosen as the “most preferred hospital” by locals. While Zabrina notes that you’ll be busy working at this location, the exceptional staff makes it all worthwhile.
Stockton and the surrounding area have loads to offer. With the University of the Pacific nearby, there is live NCAA Division I sports to watch and events to attend most of the year. For those of you who enjoy the outdoors, hiking and recreation are never too far away. You can find trails and kayaking at nearby Lodi Lake or simply take a stroll in Victory Park, but make sure to drop by on Wednesdays for live music in the park! Lastly, if you’re up for the drive, Yosemite National park is only 2 hours away.
If you’re equally interested in the bar and restaurant scene, then Zabrina will steer you right then consider the following:
Thai me up – Modern Thai eatery with cute aesthetic and instagrammable moment – Take a seat under their popular neon sign reading, “Feed me sticky rice and call me pretty”
AVE on the Mile – Classy lounge with small plates, drinks, live music, and DJs on the weekend.
Bellavista – A rooftop restaurant and bar overlooking Stockton’s historical waterfront (ft. top tier DJ on the weekends who ended up DJing Z’s wedding)
